Center for Data Innovation: “Visualizing the History of Immigration to the United States – The Wall Street Journal has created a series of data visualizations illustrating the history of immigration to the United States, highlighting how changes to U.S. immigration policy and major world events, such as the Irish Potato Famine and World War II, impacted immigration rates from different countries. The visualizations trace the increases in the population of lawful permanent residents in the United States from every country dating back to 1820. The visualizations show that while the majority of legal immigrants in the United States come from the Americas, people from Asian countries constitute the fastest growing immigrant population in the United States today.”
