WikiLeaks "intends to release several hundred thousand" classified U.S. documents on foreign policy issues

Wikileaks’ October 22, 2010 document dump of classified military documents, The Iraq War Logs [see also the previous release, Wikileaks Afghan War Diary, 2004-2010 – posted in Google fusion tables], will soon be followed by a third release, of classified State Department cables, according to the organization. Wikileaks’ twitter feed includes posts indicating the U.S. government has briefed a number of governments, including the UK, Germany, France, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Russia, Iceland, Norway, Iraq, Turkey, Denmark and Australia, on the impending release. Speculation is that more global news agencies than the three who participated in the previous release, The New York Times, Der Speigel and the UK Guardian, will also reportedly post what is believed to include 251,287 cables and 8,000 diplomatic directives. These newspapers include Le Monde and El Pais. Note: the Wikileaks server is already down, reporting this message – “We are sorry but we cannot answer your request at the moment.”
