“Statehealthfacts.org has updated state rankings in foreclosures, unemployment, and food stamp participation, based on foreclosures data from RealtyTrac as of February 2009, unemployment data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics for February 2009, and January 2009 food stamp enrollment data from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Data on state budget shortfalls as of March 13, 2009, have also been updated with information from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. Detailed 2007 hospital data from the American Hospital Association have been added and are available for all states and the nation. The most recent data on insurance protections in small group markets and other state protections for 2009 from the Health Policy Institute of Georgetown University have been added, including small group health insurance market rate restrictions and expanded COBRA continuation coverage for small firm employees. State-by-state data from the American Medical Association on nonfederal physicians for 2008 and the latest information from the American Dental Association on the total number of dentists, dentists by gender and the number of dentists by specialty field for 2008 have been added.”
