“The Washington Post/Kaiser Family Foundation/Harvard University partnership conducted a survey to examine how the recession has reshaped the lives of Americans and takes a closer look at experiences by race and ethnicity. The Race and Recession Survey, the 21st in this partnership series, was conducted by telephone from January 27 – February 9, 2011, among a nationally representative random sample of 1,959 adults ages 18 and older. The sample includes additional interviews with randomly selected African Americans and Hispanics, for a total of 501 African Americans and 501 Hispanic respondents. Interviews were conducted on conventional and cellular telephones and carried out in English and Spanish by Social Science Research Solutions (SSRS). The margin of sampling error for results based on the total sample is plus or minus three percentage points. Representatives of The Washington Post, the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation, and Harvard University worked together to develop the survey questionnaire and analyze the results.”
