Private Sector Working Group Develops Private Health Sector Projects Database

“The Private Sector Working Group developed a searchable database of over 140 health projects worldwide that work with the private commercial sector. This database is a central repository of the private sector projects in family planning, reproductive health, and HIV/AIDS. It contains a brief description of the project and is searchable by keyword, country, region, and implementing organization…The information in the database was gathered from many sources, including the Development Gateway portal, the Communications Initiative, and the United States Agency for International Development’s Global Health web site. The Private Sector Working Group focused its search on private-sector activities that pertain to family planning, reproductive health, and HIV/AIDS. Although the database contains donor-funded projects that work with the private sector, it was a challenge to find information about the many health projects supported by commercial private-sector companies, such as Exxon-Mobil, Aldo, and Coca-Cola.”
