At Metro stations in the DC area, commuters are now offered a choice of two free daily newspapers; a significantly slimmed-downed version of the Washington Post, and a newcomer called the Examiner. I have been regularly reading both, and recommend this PBS report on the national trend to lure readers back to daily newspapers with versions comprised mostly of bite-sized articles, often delivered with a strong political slant, and lots of advertising to defray production costs.
