- Preprints of scientific papers from physics and other math-heavy disciplines could become far more accessible with the use of a NIST-developed tool that converts formulas to a format easily viewable as a webpage.
- The arXiv preprint server, which has become a prominent way station for preprints, will begin using the tool to make its papers available in HTML.
- More than a quarter of the world’s population has a diagnosed vision impairment, and users of assistive technology indicate that PDF formatting is their biggest barrier to arXiv use.
