In a September 25, 2006 letter to Director of National Intelligence John Negroponte, Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) requested the declassification of portions of the April 2006 National Intelligence Estimate, to the “fullest extent possible,” following reporting by the New York Times about its conclusions.
