“The number of new cases awaiting resolution before the Immigration Courts climbed to a new all-time high of 445,607 as of the end of April 2015, according to very timely government court data obtained by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC). The backlog has risen 9.2 percent since the start of FY 2015 and is 29.5 percent higher than it was at the beginning of FY 2014. The number of pending cases involving unaccompanied children is slowly falling, down 700 cases in the past month to a current total of 70,035, representing 15.7 percent of the total backlog.
