News release: “The OECD area unemployment rate was unchanged at 7.9% in May 2012 compared with the previous month. While the rate has hovered around this level since January 2011, it remains 2.1 percentage points higher than the level recorded four years earlier. In the euro area the unemployment rate rose further in May to an all-time peak of 11.1%. It was 0.1 percentage point higher than in April and 3.8 percentage points higher than its record low of 7.3% in March 2008. In June 2012, the unemployment rate was unchanged at 8.2% in the United States and down 0.1 percentage point to 7.2% in Canada.”
