“EU-27 central government expenditure decreases from 18.8 % of GDP in 2010 to 17.9 % in 2011. In 2011 in the European Union, total expenditure at general government level made up 49.1% of GDP. Central government accounted for 36.4% of general government total expenditure (TE) or 17.9% of GDP, when transfers to other subsectors of general government are consolidated. State government made up 8.0% of TE or 3.9% of GDP, local government accounted for 23.5% of TE and 11.5% of GDP, with social security funds making up the remainder 32.1% of TE or 15.7% of GDP.”
