Monthly Energy Review May 27, 2010: “EIA’s primary report of recent energy statistics: total energy production, consumption, and trade; energy prices; overviews of petroleum, natural gas, coal, electricity, nuclear energy, renewable energy, and international petroleum; carbon dioxide emissions; and data unit conversions. Preliminary MER data show that U.S. primary energy consumption rose almost 3% in the first 2 months of 2010 compared with the first 2 months of 2009, due to increases in the consumption of natural gas, coal, and biomass. Total energy consumption in the residential and industrial sectors of the U.S. economy increased by 6% and 4%, respectively, due primarily to increases in the consumption of natural gas.”
