Data are for April 2010, during which net generation in the United States decreased by 0.8 percent and consumption of coal for power generation was down fractionally compared to April 2009. The average retail price of electricity for April 2010 was 9.59 cents per kilowatthour (kWh), 0.3 percent higher than March 2010, when the average retail price of electricity was 9.56 cents per kWh, and 0.6 percent lower than April 2009.
