But that doesn’t mean it’s time for business as usual if all you need is a cleaning. Dentists are especially at risk of contracting COVID-19 from patients, and so it may be best to put off non-urgent visits a while longer. The World Health Organization recently issued guidance on oral care, which includes a recommendation that “non-essential oral health care—which usually includes oral health check-ups, dental cleanings and preventive care—be delayed until there has been sufficient reduction in COVID-19 transmission rates…”
