“For the first time in well over a decade, Congress has enacted amendments to the Freedom of Information Act. No changes to the Acts nine exemptions were made. Rather, the amendments address a range of procedural issues impacting FOIA administration, including the codification of several provisions of Executive Order 13,392, Improving Agency Disclosure of Information. Entitled the Openness Promotes Effectiveness in our National Government Act of 2007, or the OPEN Government Act of 2007, the bill was signed into law by the President on Monday, December 31, 2007.
