Financial Times: US budget deficit set to hit $410bn
Federal Times: Agency budget highlights – “The White House is proposing a 4.8 percent cut to the Agriculture Departments discretionary budget. Two of the hardest hit areas would be research and conservation, each of which would see their budgets cut by nearly 15 percent. The departments Rural Development bureau and the Forest Service also would see significant cuts. The budget would eliminate or cut funding for 33 programs totaling $2.3 billion. Programs proposed for elimination include resource conservation and development, commodity supplemental food, and watershed surveys and planning.”
