“EPIC, joined by a coalition of consumer and privacy groups, filed comments today with the Federal Trade Commission and Federal Communications Commission urging the agencies not to create a loophole for prerecorded established business relationship telemarketing. If the loophole is adopted, businesses could send prerecorded messages to their customers, even if they are on the Do-Not-Call Registry. Senators Bill Nelson (D-FL) and Diane Feinstein (D-CA) have also objected (PDF) to the proposed loophole. For more information, see the EPIC Telemarketing Page.”
