Follow up to previous posting – DavisPolk Posts Updated Tax Bill Navigator Tool – and HR 1 – Tax Cuts and Jobs Act 2017 – via Axios: “The latest version of the House tax bill, passed by the Ways and Means Committee this afternoon, meets Senate deficit requirements, according to a Joint Committee on Taxation report provided by a committee aide. The bill adds about $1.457 trillion to the deficit over the next decade, just shy of the $1.5 trillion limit [emphasis added]. …The Senate tax plan will have key differences from the House tax bill, according to a two-page summary by the Finance Committee. It will preserve the current lowest tax rate of 10 percent and lift the child tax credit to $1,650, slightly higher than the House. It also preserves several popular tax deductions. Why this matters: Like the House, the Senate will now work through the plan in committee to address member demands.”
