WSJ: Fannie Mae Loss of $2.3 Billion Exceeds Forecasts

Fannie Mae reported a wider-than-expected second-quarter loss of $2.3 billion and said it expects more heavy losses from the surge in home-mortgage defaults. Mounting losses at both Fannie and Freddie Mac, the two main providers of money for home mortgages, are limiting their ability to buy and guarantee home loans.
