Sponsor: Rep Pelosi, Nancy [CA-8] (introduced 9/29/2006): “Directs the Chairman and Ranking Minority Member of the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct to: (1) immediately appoint a Subcommittee, pursuant to Rule 19 of the Rules of the Committee, to fully and expeditiously determine the facts connected with Representative Mark Foley’s conduct and the response thereto; and (2) make a preliminary report within 10 days.”
  • Bipartisan Ethics Committee Launches Investigation Of House Page Program Allegations, October 5, 2006.
  • Statement by Chairman Doc Hastings and Ranking Minority Member Howard Berman, House Ethics Committee, October 5, 2006: “Earlier today, the House Ethics Committee voted unanimously to establish an Investigative Subcommittee regarding any conduct of House Members, officers and staff related to information concerning improper conduct involving Members and Current and Former Pages.”
  • Washington Post: A “…three-page “preservation letter” — sent to House Counsel Geraldine Gennet from the office of acting U.S. attorney Jeffrey Taylor in Washington — indicates that law enforcement officials are preparing, if necessary, to seek grand jury subpoenas for records or searches of Foley’s Capitol Hill office, said law enforcement officials and legal experts.”
