Boxer Again Implores Iraq Study Group to Release Initial Recommendations

Press release: “In a second letter to the Iraq Study Group today, U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) again urged the Group to release its initial judgements on the Iraq war through an interim report, without consideration to the political calendar. In response to Boxer’s first letter, the Iraq Study Group’s co-chairs, James Baker and Lee Hamilton, said that if they were to release their recommendations two weeks prior to the election, “our ability to seek consensus for the implementation of our recommendations would be greatly compromised by the heat of the political moment.”
