Stanford Law’s Center for Internet and Society Launches World Intermediary Liability Map 2.0

“The World Intermediary Liability Map (WILMap) is an online resource informing the public about evolving Internet regulation shaping Intermediary Liability and Internet users’ rights worldwide. The Center for Internet and Society at Stanford Law School, along with an amazing team of contributors, built this organized, searchable compendium of laws and legal resources from countries around the world. It includes case law, statutes, proposed laws, and other materials related to intermediary liability. You can use the WILMap to learn about intermediary liability regimes worldwide, and to identify places where legal regimes balance—or fail to balance—regulatory goals with freedom of expression and other civil liberties. The Map page provides a visual representation of important developments around the world. The Explore page allows both basic searches of WILMap entries, and Advanced Searches based on considerations such as the type of platform involved or the specific legal obligations considered. Topics pages track specific issues and emerging trends, such as platform monitoring obligations and the “Right to Be Forgotten.” More information about the WILMap and links to other recommended resources are in our FAQ.
